Yesterday morning when I got up, my six month old daughter was a little cranky... more then the normal fussy. She didn't seem to know what she wanted. I changed her, fed her, let her play, but she was still fussy. I did all the "Mom" things that you do to try to get your kid in a better mood. I played with her, I made a funny face with her, I tried to get her to laugh by making a fool of myself, I even turned on cartoons. Nothing worked. Finally, I picked her up and just sat down with her to rock her to sleep. It wasn't long before she was out like a light. As I put her down for a nap I could hear God telling me that sometimes I am like that. I am fussy and cranky for no reason. I just don't know what I want to make me happy. I whine to God about nothing just trying to get happy, but all along what I NEED is to just rest and be in God for a few moments.
Isaiah 40:31 says, "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
It is easy to fuss about nothing to God because we're tired or weary or just plain cranky, but when we are willing to take time to "wait on the Lord" and rest in Him life seems to become a whole lot easier!
